Cape May Quilt & Fiber Arts Show, June 25-26

The Village’s 29th annual Quilt Show has expanded into a full-scale event celebrating all forms of fiber arts. In addition to voting for your favorite quilt, guests can take in workshops and demonstrations on knitting, crocheting, wool dyeing, sheep shearing and more.
Schedule of Speakers 
SATURDAY
11:00 AM  Knitting In The British Isles.  Victoria Ervine is sharing 30 years of professional knowledge.  Proprietor of the Knitting Niche in Ocean City Vicky has taught individuals the joy of knitting.  See how American knitting has been influenced by the “Isles”.
12:00 noon History of Quilts in America as demonstrated by a “Hand turning” of sample quilts.  Kathy Tweed, a life- long quilter brings the history of quilting to life in this presentation.
1:00 PM Sewing demonstration by Diane Dunwoody and what to do with a fat quarter.  Diane Dunwoody has been an instructor in Cape May County for over two decades.  Learn a new sewing technique.
2: 00 PM   Ben Franklin and The Cape May Mitten Trade, the short film about the entrepreneurial spirit of Colonial Cape May County women followed by a brief discussion of the trade.
SUNDAY

1:00 PM Re-purposing Fibers from the Past Helen Ernst is presenting new ways to introduce vintage and heirloom linens into your home.  Helen started to expand this concept recently and it is sweeping the “internet”.
2:00 PM Scrapstashtic Quilts  Janellea Macbeth brings her system of controlling your stash and creating beautiful quilts in process. “All I need to design a one-of-a kind piece of art is my brain and my fabric”.  Learn how her system may work in your sewing space.
