To Joyce, With Love & Kisses

With Love!
I would like to introduce you to my Wonderful Mother-In-Law Joyce.
"Everyone Should Have Joyce In Their Life"
We were Blessed!

She had a heart attack last week and has undergone major heart surgery
on Monday. She is recovering well.
It will be a bit of recovery time and she will need a Quilt
to keep her warm during our Fall Nights.

The pattern is called Kensington Kaleidoscope.  Here is a link.
The stars are made using the stack & whack technique from the border fabric.

This is quilted on my Domestic machine.

And Kisses!

These Little Treats Are Great!
Use premade pie crust and Hersey's Chocolate Kisses.
Use any variety of Kiss's, these are with almonds, some carmel
and some are white chocolate.
I used the top of a coffee cup to mark and press the circles.

Fold 2 sides over the kiss and pinch.

Then fold the other 2 sides, pinch and close any openings.

Egg wash the tops and sprinkle with sugar.

Recipe:
1 refrigerated pie crust
14 Hershey Kisses-any type you choose
1 egg white whisked with 1 Tbsp water
Regular sugar
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out pie dough onto a lightly floured surface.  I used a coffee cup that measured about 2 1/2 inches wide at the top, and pressed down to make as many circles as possible (approx 14 circles).  Fold half of pie dough around top of dough and pinch (See Photo). Then fold up remaining sides of dough to the tip of the kiss and pinch together edges to form a criss cross at the top (See photo).  Continue cutting dough until all dough is used up.  I kept re-rolling the scrap dough. Which ended up making up to 18 little pies.
2. Brush pies with an egg white wash (I found dipping them into the egg white easier) then sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake for 20-28 minutes or until little pies are golden. Remove and let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack. Can also be sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Our Visit Monmouth University
Nathan is a Senior at Monmouth University.
This is his Dorm/Apartment this year.

The movie Annie was filmed in this building.
It is Beautiful!
Nathan never mentioned  that it was Open House Weekend!

This is the inside, it was the summer home of
 President Woodrow Wilson.

For the next few weeks we will be touring several
colleges for our second son, Ronald.
He is a senior in high school.
I also look to see what quilting stores are near by the colleges.
Isn't that what every involved and concerned mother is looking for!

Till We Quilt Again,
Helen
