Ready for take-off
-- sit back we are heading into space!
Earlier this year we did some traveling. And I wanted a hand project to take along that would not be too cumbersome.
Having done traditional English Paper Piece (EPP). I thought this would be a fun one to try.
The pattern was very well written and easy to follow, I would highly recommend giving it a try. What I liked about this design is the unusual shapes of the hexagons that created the sphere.
I had this graduated black, gray & white fabric that created a Eclipse look which was my hubby's first words when he saw it.
As with most quilts, I enjoy the whole process from picking fabrics all the way to the binding however I will admit that sleeves are my least favorite, but there is a magic that happens when you add the quilting. And the magic is my favorite part!
A few tips along the way!
Organization is the key!
Geta directs you through the construction.
Did I mention how important staying organized is!
There are many little pieces and I am sure a few airline stewards, maids and rental car cleaners are wondering what they are!
Do your best to match piecing threads,
they show up if you do allot of quilting.
For me, I used allot of silk thread!
