Any Thoughts?

This quilt needs to be quilted during March.
I need it for a gift in April.
Any Thoughts on the quilting?

There is one HST on the left (near the center square) where the contrast is not great.
Would you leave it in or take it out and replace?

This is also my March-ALYOF Goal.

  1. I can't wait to read comments about this quilt. I'm not big on taking things out! You do have a nice balance with another HST with less contrast-- top row. But, if it was my quilt, I would take them both out. The overall contrast is so strong that the two triangles distract me. Quilting. Always my delima! I'm doing a log cabin now with same setting. Straight lines down the dark diagonals. Feathers in the light diagonals. Did someone warn me diagonals are a crazy quilt rolling nightmare? Would that be too expected for your quilt? I think you will put a much more modern element in the quilting and I can't wait to see what you do.

  2. I would take those two out. You've got such a nice, smooth low volume look going, that when the eye brushes over those, it definitely registers. As for your quilting, that's always, always, always the question! To me, this quilt almost shouts out to have straight-line quilting. Lots of darn ruler work, and on the diagonal it would be a bugger. Scratch that idea. You are much better at deciding quilting than I am, my friend. Just go for it!

  3. I'm sorry, what?! I think it looks fine. My eyes continue the pattern, like good little eyes! I had to look at this 4 times to figure out what you were talking about, I think I know now, but it took me a lot of time to figure it out. I love it as it is.

  4. I'm not big on taking things out either. . . BUT, if it bugs you (and you are going to see it often lol) I would take it out. As for quilting, FEATHERS! in the low volume and some kind of swirl or quick meander in the darker fabric - it's not going to show, will only be for texture. Remember Twirling Aqua? The feathers stand out, the swirls added texture, worked great. :) I know you will think of something fabulous!

  7. I think you're being told to take them out by most people. I don't think it stands out too much, things can look different in photos though. You're quilting is always awesome so I know you'll pick the perfect pattern!
