Summer Solstice is a test pattern that I had the privilege to make.
Marelize at Stitch By Stitch is the creator of this great pattern.
She has a exciting fun blog with allot of things happening!
If you can, stop by to see it!
These are the fabrics I had chosen and posted about HERE.
Most of the fabric comes from a great quilt store
called Mouse Creek Quilt Shop in Howell, New Jersey.
One of the things that drew me to this pattern was its appeal for the Traditional and the Modern quilter.

So I was a bit out of my comfort zone at first................
Until quickly realizing that there were
3 different blocks--which made this
construction interesting and fun to make.

It also had allot of open area to go
crazy with freehand quilting.
I my close friend, quilter & photographer-
Denise at Nini And The Sea helped me with photos.
So pour yourself some coffee and enjoy the view!
I highly recommend this quilt pattern!
Summer Solstice is my April's "ALYOF".
While we were taking photos, Denise had her incredible
improv quilt also. However you will need to
keep your eye on Nini And The Sea blogspot for when she posts the details on this great quilt!
You can find this fun quilt pattern at
Marelize's blog or at Craftsy.
Till We Quilt Again,
Helen, I have no words to describe how much I love your quilt. It looks amazing and the quilting you did really brings out the design. I love every inch!!! It turned out stunning. I am really happy that you tested my pattern, thank you for that!!! I am going to feature your quilt on the next linkup on my blog, next week is HOST week, but the week after :-)
ReplyDeleteAgain, thank you so much!!!
Your quilt is amazing! I love all that free motion quilting! It was fun taking pics on the beach and letting our quilts play in the sand!! Let's do it again!!
ReplyDeleteNini~
I loved the colors when I first saw them and the finished quilt is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Marelize is going to be selling a lot more patterns when other quilters see your "Summer Solstice"!

A STUNNING quilt, Helen!!! I love the bright colours against the dark background. A great photo shoot at the beach.
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks like you had great fun making and quilting this one! I love your little flower swirls in the border areas. And your arrow creations in the blocks!
ReplyDeleteWhat an eye catching quilt!! What a great pattern, and you're right that 3 different blocks is a good amount, not too many so you can get into a pattern of sewing but enough so it keeps you interested. The quilting is amazing. Thanks for showing lots of wonderful photos.
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous quilt! Well done on getting it finished. I love the pattern and the fabrics you chose are so eye-catching, great job!
ReplyDeleteI am totally inspired by your quilting. THank you for sharing close-ups of it. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this quilt with the black fabric. The black makes it look quite different from the original version but as beautiful. The quilting is beautifully done too. I really like the parts with the curled feathers that looks (to me) like flowers.
