Warm Your Heart! (Free Pattern)

56 children will be warmer this winter.
60 children in-need will receive a gift in a handmade pillow case this Christmas.
103 animals in the local shelters can snuggle on a bed this winter.
80 "Meals On Wheels" recipients will receive a beautiful place-mat with their
Thanksgiving dinner.

Every year, Novembers meeting is a pot luck dinner for Thanksgiving.
A meeting that is a bit out of the norm.
Last night our Charity committee held a "Parade Of Quilts" so everyone could see what incredible items made over the year.
Also a representative from CASA was there to speak and collect the quilts for the children.
The other items will be delivered all over this week.

I wish I had photos but I was helping with the parade!

Here is one of my contributions!
A child's blanket and pillowcase.

This is a great project!

This is a great time to try out some free motion!

Monkeying Around!

My mother is leading the Charity committee for our guild this year. I am so lucky she is doing this because whatever she leads--she is great at it!

These are two of her quilts that she is donating to a wonderful cause through our guild. I usually get to quilt pieces that she will donate.

This turns out to be a win for every one. She gets her quilts quilted. I get to practice. And a child will be happy to receive these.

Doing squares all over a quilt is not as easy as I thought! This is a good brain exercise!!

I love how she strip pieced the backs as well.

FYI! The monkey fabric is a cut up fabric shower curtain! What a great re-purpose!

This one is done with Angela Walters recent video clip to practice her technique of  the Swirl Hook Video Tutorial. Which made this quilt more feminine looking.

This was done with all "Square in a Square" making it look more masculine for a boy.

Today is day two for the "See You In September" Blog Hop!
Here is who is posting today!

Fun Playing And Giving!

For the past two years I've attended
retreat hosted by
The Virginia Longarm Network.
This is a time where longarmer's come together for a
weekend of learning, sharing and laughing!

Friday nights activity is to gather and construct
quilts as a group.
We are then asked to take one home and quilt it.

Once completed we return the quilt to
where they are entered into the

then auctioned
to raise money for this wonderful cause.

So while quilting for this cause, I played with
rulers, stencils, free motion and...

for the first time, put binding on the quilt while
it was on the longarm.

This was fun!

So consider, to make something, while learning something
 all while you give something!
Everyone Wins!

Over the past 30 days .....

During the past month
"I"

Quilted Valencia's quilt.
Love how she pieced the back.

She wanted a simple allover meander.

This is a gift for Valencia's son.

I finished this quilt that I had started in the 80's.
(Yes-I do realize some of you had not been born yet!)

This is my March 'Year of Finishes'

Donated this to a wonderful organization for
children called CASA.

Then it was off to Vermont for our yearly
skiing vacation!
(here's some of the boys)
Chelsey teaching Kiara how to knit!

After the cold in Vermont, repacked and went
south to lie under this palm tree.

Float in this pool!

Sit on this beach!

And bike-ride with a long time friend in
Palm Beach, Florida!
And last--but for sure not least!
It was off to our second annual "Sew What" weekend.
(who snuck that corner piece?)
With my dear friend's Denise and Chelsey.
(They are a mother and daughter team)
A few months ago Chelsey moved over to the NJ side.
This view is from her apartment lot.
(we had a perfect 60 degree day)
 First stop was Chelsea Market!
What a fun place this is.

The produce stand is a walk-in refrigerator!
We needed Blood Oranges for a future salad.

We walked along the" The High Line" which is the old train rails converted into a walking path above the streets in the city .
(you can see the Statue of Liberty in the distance)
Made our annually trip to  "City Quilter"
A must for any quilter in NYC!

Had coffee in Bryant park.
(was really there to practice my run-way walk)

Grand Central Station

We saw "Once" a musical on Broadway.
And then to JoJo's a fantastic French Restaurant.
Both were Wonderful!

Then it was the 10 minute ferry ride back to Chelsey's

Sunday it was time to sew!
Chelsey's pieced this beauty.
Denise cut out a future quilt and
I was English Paper piecing a gift
(so I can't show it yet).

We planned to return home late Sunday night.
However we left earlier to bet the snow.
So we woke up to this the next morning!

And here are a few beloved
Swedish Leprechauns.
Hope you had a wonderful St Patrick's Day!
Till We Quilt Again,
