What Am I Doing?

I agreed to make a quilt for my sons friend.
In my spare time.
Looks pretty self explanatory

(album cover)

Shouldn't be tough!
Paint the back ground and add some applique.
Do some quilting and wah-lah!

REALLY!
I never considered that I didn't have "Spare Time"

There is only 21 letters on the cover!

I am claiming to have this quilt done as
my May "ALYOF"

Have I mentioned how wonderful "WIP & ALYOF" is?
These two linking parties are two of the best things I link with
that keep you committed to finishing projects!

I have not been a gold star member but I have been faithful
to the pursuit of getting it
 DONE!

Gotta go get something done!

Summer Solstice & April's "ALYOF"

Summer Solstice is a test pattern that I had the privilege to make.
Marelize at Stitch By Stitch is the creator of this great pattern.
She has a exciting fun blog with allot of things happening!
If you can, stop by to see it!

These are the fabrics I had chosen and posted about HERE.
Most of the fabric comes from a great quilt store
called  Mouse Creek Quilt Shop in Howell, New Jersey.

One of the things that drew me to this pattern was its appeal for the Traditional and the Modern quilter.

I normally do not sway towards quilts that have repeated blocks.
So I was a bit out of my comfort zone at first................

Until quickly realizing that there were
3 different blocks--which made this
construction interesting and fun to make.

It also had allot of open area to go
crazy with freehand quilting.

I my close friend, quilter & photographer-
Denise at Nini And The Sea  helped me with photos.
So pour yourself some coffee and enjoy the view!

I highly recommend this quilt pattern!

Summer Solstice is my April's "ALYOF".

While we were taking photos, Denise had her incredible
improv quilt also. However you will need to
keep your eye on Nini And The Sea blogspot for when she posts the details on this great quilt!

Friends on Friday-Eleanor (Quilting in the Dark)

This is Eleanor's beautiful quilt.
I had one huge problem--
I could not see where and what I was quilting.
The thread blended so well that I was blinded.

Photo from Phone

Here is a first for me!
Closed the curtains, removed the machine light bulb
and put in a black light bulb.

FYI
I was born in the 60's and this felt bit illegal!
If I thought about it hard enough I smelled Patchouli
(which by the way I love and still to this day wear in the fall and winter). Some of you will know exactly
 what I am talking about!!!

I was not a huge fan of the 30's fabrics till I quilted this quilt.
I have collected a nice stash since quilting this.

After all these year, who would have known we would be so closely stitched in friendship and quilting.
Thank You, Eleanor.

Need Help! With a Pile of.......

HST's!
A few years back The Quilt Show had a HST Swap.

I attempted a wall hanging that I did not care for.
As you can see the rip out threads are everywhere.
And now I am drawing a blank as what to do with them.
(they measure 2 1/2 inch sq.)

Any thoughts you have would help me to get started!

Do you have a favorite design for laying them out?
Would you use them in a quilt or something else?

Something to think about:
Why is abbreviation such a long word?

Sneakerdoodles!

You will not find a quilt today,
however you may find a few quilting designs!

Over the weekend I took a break from quilting.

I relaxed on the deck, taking in all the
wonderful spring sounds!

 And doodled on these sneakers!

 Up Close!

Hope You Had A Wonderful Easter!

Something To Think About:
If the #2 pencil is so popular, why is it still #2?
