The reflection was sewn perfectly!

Meandered around the words.

 

Added tree and leaf lines.

 

Outlined the applique.

Added little howling swirls.

Elizabeth attached the cutest fluffy tail!

 

Elizabeth was clever as a Fox with the applique.

She added just the right detail of spots.

Elizabeth made several quilts for the Bethlehem Christian School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

I think 12 in all!

A little snip-it from the email Elizabeth sent me:

Briefly, the "story" about the quilt is that I was frustrated with a quilt I was working on. It had sheep on it as I was trying to use the 23 Psalm as the verse. Finally, I gave up and purchased the pattern (my first, I always design my own). I didn't notice till I got home that the company's name was EWE-nique. Oh, God is sometimes so funny! I modified the design to fit what I was doing and added the bible verse. My dearest friend gave me the bible verse, & I just loved it. I went on the company's website to get the email address so I could send them a photo (also, very unusual for me to do). Well, I almost fell over.... right on their home page... was the same bible verse!--Elizabeth

I came across Vicki's
Swirly Twirly Dresden Tutorial
from Quilting Lodge Blog.

I liked the clean, fresh modern look of the block
 and knew this block had a future with me
someday.

I enlarged Vicki's dresden since I wanted the
dresden to be large. The solids worked well to make the dresden stand out. And truth be told,
I had know idea that we could use
 Angela's Line of fabrics which
has pattern to them.

1). Wanted to decorate a wall.

2). Liked Angela's fabrics.

3). Practice quilting.

4).Timed contest to have finished (Yeah!).

5). Plus enter a Challenge.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Used 2 layers of Quilters Dream Batting.

 

 

Colored changed the thread to match each color. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And the Milky Way

was then created in my Universe!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And heres the back!

 

 

 

 

 

Fabric was not wasted on this quilt!

 

 

 

 

 

 

               

 

Binding was pieced from

small leftover scraps.

 resides!

 

 

 

 

 

I wanted to hide a queen size bed!

So my husband ran a ceiling track.
Had sewn a quilt, and added some grommets
And-Wah-La!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Slide the quilt in front of the book case.

Pillows are stored on top of the bed.

(I have plans to utilize the under side

of the bed in the near future.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

So this is what the room looks like for
short stay visitors.

 

 But when my son or guests can stay longer,

down comes the quilt (quilt can be used on bed).

 And the guests can store their personal items

 in the bookcases.

Art Gallery Fabrics manufactures the fabric.

And I purchased it at Contemporary Cloth.

I did not use the plum, purple or
pink in the challenge.

 

 

But there is another quilt
started on the design wall.

The quilting added the texture. 

 And the pillows were needed

 To finish it off!

List a few of your favorite quilting notions.
              1. I-Pod-Once I have all my measurements for cutting or ready to  piece, out comes the I-Pod. I enjoy listening to music, novels, and comedy. The family gets a good laugh hearing me either laughing, crying or screaming.
              2. Hip Klip -This is were the I-Pod and IPhone go. Ever since getting this wonderful attachment--My life has not been the same.
              3. Sewing Chair -This gem, is the secret to not to having a sore back.
              4. Strip Cutting Ruler -This comes in many sizes--I mainly use the ruler that cuts at 1 and 1-1/2 inch increments.



Any advice for a successful color scheme of a quilt?
       When I choose fabric I am looking at values but more important for me is the hues of the color. If they don't work well it can ruin it for me.
            

Some thoughts about thread and needles, batting?
                 Thread- Most of my thread comes from Superior Threads mainly I use Bottom Line and also from Connecting Threads . My favorite is SILK!
                  Batting-Quilters Dream and Hobbs Batting 80/20 and favorite is WOOL!


Tips for easy piecing.
          Be organized and consistent with stitching! 
            

If you enjoy other quilt techniques than patchwork, could you share some tips with us?             My tip is to surround yourself with family and friends that support your addiction. Having a husband and mother (she is my cheerleader and quilter buddy) that are behind every sane and almost sane venture I attempt. And having friends that enjoy sharing what they know and enjoy trying knew techniques as much as you do. Chances are that they have tried or want to try the same things you do.  Along with many other enablers, my two major adventure seekers are Denise & Chelsey at Nini And The Sea Blogspot, they are a mother and daughter team that blogs together and also have a very nice Etsy Shop. 


Other tips related to quilting
           Try it all. You never know what you will like!

The sewing machine - share a few things you love at your sewing machine; what makes it special? What features do you think are the most important to a sewing machine used for quilting? I have Bernina Pearl. I love the design Ltd. design that was painted on it. After having a machine with ALL the bells and whistles, I went with the most basic (well almost basic) machine I could find with what I wanted. Shortly after getting this Bernia my passion turned towards longarming. I do enjoy my sewing machine however most of my time is now longarming for others.

                               

What about modern quilting tools?
          Dover Books- Has many quilt and quilting design ideas. Endless!!!!
          Modern Quilt Guilds- On-line there is The Modern Quilt Guild. Also I have visited the Jersey Shore Modern Quilt Guild and there are more in the state. I have not found the time to visit them yet.
          Modern Quilting Tools- Templates, straight line quilting with rulers, channel lock and free hand quilting all add to the feel of modern quilting.
         

Could you recommend a book to someone who just started quilting? 
        My first book was during the time templates were made from from file folders and foundation piecing was with pencil marked muslin. So unless you REALLY wanted to take it back to the basics I would not go by what I started with. But with that said, I am glad I started where I did. You can understand clearly and quickly the construction when looking at a quilt.

Don't Do Like Me!
              Quilting is like living life (to me). We can say what not to do but some of the things we will do anyway or try other ways, thinking it is a better way. Some of my results have been the worst quilting pieces known to man. But also I have discovered some of the best techniques for me. I welcome Stumbling Blocks--You are then forced to figure a way out!!
             
   

A little about you, we would love to know you better.
           Started quilting 22 years ago. After learning the traditional ways of quilting world I stumbled into some of the modern ways. Which lead me to longarm quilting a few years ago. Which in turn lead me from home longarming to professional longarming. Life is... Good!
