Faux Fried Ice Cream & Target

What do these two things have to do with each other?
NOTHING!
Except this was what my yesterday looked like.

Between appointments and errands--I stopped at Target and stumbled onto some
 Quilty & Fibery looking things.

Check out these 3D Pinwheels!
What fun on some cards.

Love these chevron mailing envelopes.
Comes in 2 sizes.
Will be having a giveaway very soon so this might be in your mailbox shortly!

Scotch has a ruler masking tape!
Can think of many uses for this little gem.
And these little sticky note tabs will come in handy too!

When I got home I made Faux Fried Ice Cream.
I have been using this recipe for years and it is always a hit.
Thought I would share!
Recipe Is Here

I have varied this recipe with many different flavors of ice creams. Also have stuffed chocolate taco shells with the cream and coated the edges with the coating. And I will admit it--I have also softened ice cream, added some cardamon and added small bits of local fudge,
It is amazing!

These were made small for a up coming party.

Bon Appetite!

Color Challenge And Ribbons!

At our guild meeting in May we tore a photo from a random magazine at a set time. Our challenge was to return in September with a quilt any size that was not any larger than 24' x 24' or sewn piece using the colors from the photo

Here is my photo!

Must say, these colors were OK
but I was not a fan.

My personal challenge was not to add any purchased fabric.

Plus to try a new technique!

Since I was on a hexie kick, I was noticing this unusual technique on the web.
Where you glue your basted hexie's and quilt them in a very linear way.

Placement is VERY important!

The stitching is pretty self explanatory.
However not for me.
I did have to do some ripping!

What I learned:
Test iron-- silky poly material melts!
Pleather is not color fast ---it runs!
Stay alert when sewing those straight lines-
I created my own unique grid at first!

There were so many participants in the challenge so it was fun to see the
very imaginative & creative pieces that came in.

And to my surprise this little piece
Placed 1st!

The first time I saw this technique was on Nicole's blog at Modern Hand Craft and then on Kelly's blog at Pink A Dot Quilts.
Check them out-both are very talented!

Don't you love the ribbons?

They are made by Denise over at
It was such a clever idea to use the
gross grain and zippers!

A Year Has Past!

Val at Val's Quilting Studio put out a challange last year to save up your change and small bills. To be accountable I posted about it HERE.

Click the picture to read more!

My total was $92.35 and here is what I applied it to in Austin, Texas while at Quilt Con.

The full post is Here.

I have not had a chance to cut into this bundle of wonderfulness but I am hoping soon.

Maybe Val will have a chanllange to do something with what you purchased?
Thank You Val--it was fun!
