Modern quilting has arrived and it will be staying! Or at least at my house it will.
The clean and crisp look leaves lots of negative space for
quilting, quilting, and more quilting.
This is my beautiful, talented, smart and crafty niece!
She and her future husband attended the
University Of Florida and are dedicated fans.

The fabric above is the Gator school colors.
She received two lap quilts.
One in each of the 2 color ways.
I did both quilts Chevron style. Here you can get a great Free PDF from Shannon Fabrics on how to make chevrons and the pattern. The blocks can be made any size. |
Here are the completed quilts.
For each quilt I put the other color as the binding.

The Quilting!
My mother in-law winters in Florida, where Gator Fleece is very accessible.
She wanted my niece to have a gift with this fleece.
So.... What is one to do?
As most quilters know--fleece can be a challenge to sew on.
However when I first started long arming I came across a post that fleece can be a great piece to practice on loading, the issue of stretching,
and learning to do a all-over consistently.
So I layered the Gator fleece and added royal blue fleece to the back. After marking off the borders that would be tied later,
I did a all over of meandering on one (his) and a allover of hearts (hers).
My sons girlfriend was nice enough to tie the borders for me.
